Cyber Security Specialist

Salary: £65,000 per annum - £75,000 depending on skills and experience

Location: Remote / Hybrid  

Working Pattern: We operate a flexible hybrid working pattern at the Occam Group, with time split between the office, client sites and working from home.

Job Description 

You will be responsible for working with the Management Team in initiating and developing the Occam Group Cyber Security service offering. Our extensive customer base means you will be supporting our team in a broad variety of work, with the ability to gain a lot of different experience across multiple areas. Projects currently being worked on include autonomous shipping, novel weapon systems, nuclear power plants and rail systems. 


Duties to include 

  • Provide Cyber Security advice and guidance for clients through a project lifecycle.
  • Utilise technical security knowledge, with critical thinking in a broad range of complex and non-routine contexts, in order to identify and establish good security governance to meet client business requirements.
  • Conduct and manage security assurance activities of Defence systems. 
  • Perform Cyber Security risk assessments, balancing constraints and risk appetite.
  • Create, update or review security related artefacts, such as Security Cases.
  • Build successful working relationships with team members and key customers. 


Essential Requirements  

  • Experience of delivering technical Cyber Security consultancy across a variety of Defence or Civil domains.
  • A robust understanding of ‘Secure by Design’ methodology and NIST Risk Management Framework, and experience in their implementation.
  • A wide awareness of Cyber Security across Government and Industry to include HMG Information Assurance Policies, Standards and Guidelines, including the Cyber Assessment Framework, National Cyber Security Centre guidance, and MoD JSPs such as JSP440, JSP604/JSP453 (plus other standard MoD IA methods). 
  • Knowledge and experience of implementing approaches to gain certifications such as ISO27000, NIST Cyber Security Professional, CISMP etc.
  • Experience of developing Information Security Management Systems (ISMS). 


Desirable Requirements  

  • Certificate in Information Security Manager Principles (CISMP) or equivalent. 
  • Associate/Full Membership of recognised security professional body such as the Institute of Information Security Professionals (IISP), IS2 or BCS.
  • Ambition and drive to help establish a new service in a rapidly growing consultancy.
